The Sojourn Team provides a variety of services to help our clients make the maximum impact with their dollars. Our activities include conducting landscape analyses to identify funding opportunities and gaps, holding in-depth conversations with organizations and coalitions, and sharing strategic feedback based on political expertise and field experience. We advise donors on issues relating to voting rights, pro-democracy movement building, and race and gender equity.

Through our Philanthropic Advising & Evaluation Portfolio we:
- Strategic Analysis of Issue & Movement Ecosystems: We design and conduct strategic landscape analyses of issue and movement ecosystems to help inform grantmaking and program strategy. We use both qualitative and quantitative analytical approaches to inform our analysis.
- Advising on Grantmaking Strategy & Giving: We work with clients to develop grantmaking strategies that help align their goals with measurable and equitable impact. We also provide advice on grant portfolios and philanthropic giving.

I’m deeply grateful for our partnership with Sojourn Strategies. Katrina and her team bring a unique combination of experience in organizing, academic and political analysis, and partnership building to their work – centering the power of movements to drive forward social change.

Though it’s been years since our engagement, I still find the landscape analysis and recommendations produced for our team by Sojourn Strategies relevant to the philanthropic and political context faced by the climate justice movement. We’ve implemented a number of the strategic recommendations in our grantmaking across the South and also in support of integrated voter engagement or other electoral power building strategies.
