COLOR OF CHANGE
Prosecutors are one of the most powerful actors in the criminal justice system. Historically, they have led with little transparency or accountability. And many of these elected prosecutors ran unopposed driving hyper criminalization and mass incarceration. Sojourn designed and executed the first ever national prosecutor accountability convening bringing together organizers, lawyers, policy experts and funders to create a community committed to ending mass incarceration. We also helped Color Of Change launch a national prosecutor accountability hub: Winning Justice. We advised on community demands and coalitions that led to the election of progressive prosecutors across the country from Philadelphia to Chicago; and policies that reduced the harm of criminalization in communities across the country.
